Although Lopez is a crime victim put in hiding by her state government:
- In 2017, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) voluntarily and illegally dumped her sensitive personal information onto the Internet and gave it to various media organizations. This was a year after the DHS warned her that her ex-husband still poses a serious threat to her safety, yet, still refused to deport him.
- In 2025, the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (“DOGE”) was voluntarily given illegal access to multiple federal databases containing Lopez’s protected information as a crime victim in hiding, as well as potential access to her protected whistleblowing evidence.
By repeatedly breaking its own privacy laws and failing to enforce immigration law, the federal government continues to put Lopez in serious physical danger.
In 2017 and 2025, the federal government voluntarily gave out Lopez's protected information.
